Damage from Powder Post Beetles

 

Less common known and detected but just as destructive are Powder Post Beetles.  In attics, basements, crawl spaces, garage or out buildings.  Anywhere there is exposed wood Powder Post Beetles can be found. 

 

In newer homes or when wood is brought into the home for repairs such as replacing baseboards, molding, building projects, etc., Power Post Beetles can infest a home. 

 

Inspection for these pests might look like holes in the wood about the size of an ice pick head being used to make holes at various angles.  When the Beetles emerge from wood there is usually small amounts of frass or fine sawdust. 

 

This is when you need to call for an inspection because you will most likely not find the insect, just the exit holes.

Pest Problems and Control Service

 

Most services provided by Pest Control * Plus are for residential homes and local and small businesses.  Our methods allow us to offer the homeowner and business owner a more personalized service as the larger chain stores are already serviced by the large Pest Control companies.  

 

Although we offer monthly service, almost all accounts find our Seasonal Quarter Service Plan works best for them.  This service is done during the pest season from mid-March through December and customers receive three to four service calls a year.  This depends on their surrounding area, their actual need and we have found this service will provide excellent control throughout the whole year.  

 

What this can mean is a lower cost per year, personalized service that is more convenient because service is normally scheduled at the owners convenience.  Those with only the Exterior Service Plan don't have to be home when we service.  

 

As an example:  With most companies you will soon discover that they want you to do at least 12 monthly service calls.  Those service calls cost at least $30.00 each service or $385.00 a year (includes the NJ 7% sales tax).  If you are just starting this type of service, add at least another $107.00 or more for the initial service call. 

 

You then choose which day of the month you want service and the time of day, say from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.  To stay on schedule you then have to be home each month, waiting for the technician to come, and then you can only hope they show up on time or that day.

 

Pest Control * Plus offers a different service, we call it our Seasonal Quarter Plan.  We have found most properties need only 3 service calls a year unless they are in or near a deep wooded area.

 

The cost of each service averages $75.00 and that comes to $240.75 a year (about $140.00 savings) and there is no initial cost unless there is a specific problem to control pest like service for Carpenter Ants, Flea or Tick spray, etc.  Example:  If we did a Flea spray service for $125.00, you would not pay $125.00 plus $75.00 and tax, just the $125.00 plus tax for the Flea spray which will take care of the full service you would normally receive. 

 

Many homeowners request only the Exterior Service Plan and don't have to worry about being home when we service their property.  This has been a convenience to many and of course our services are guaranteed.

 

If they are at work or school and we do not have to enter the house, we will provide the service but call and let them know we will we there as to not interfere if something is happening and we should not be treating their property that particular day. 

 

For those who want to include the interior service, this is done by appointment at their convenience and remember, 3 to 4 times a year works well with most properties.
